What is an articulated forklift?
It is a very compact forklift which can operate in aisles as narrow as 1.8m wide. An articulated forklift has a hinged frame because of which the front of its body can rotate independently of the rear counterbalanced section. Its rotation, or articulating angle, gives it extra flexibility and enables it to access pallets on racks even in very narrow aisles
What is the advantage of an articulated forklift?
Because of its ability to navigate easily even in very narrow spaces, an articulated forklift allows warehouses to store pallets closer together in narrower aisles thereby increasing storage capacity by as much as 50%.
What is the difference between a reach truck and an articulated
forklift?
A reach truck has to turn its entire body to position its forks, while in an articulated truck its front portion turns independently of the rear, providing greater maneuverability. A reach truck can’t be used on uneven floors/surfaces while an articulated forklift can work on all types of floors/surfaces an articulated forklift can carry out operations that require a vertical as well as a horizontal reach in narrow spaces.
In addition, a reach truck can only work inside warehouses while articulating forklift can work both inside and outside warehouses.
