The question always should be, what is its history and where has been used. You need to be certain it hasn’t been operating in corrosive areas or extremely rough applications. It is a piece of machinery so there’s typically not a perfect application, but if you have an idea of where it came from then you generally know what you’re getting for your money.
Another important point when shopping for a used forklift is to know what your capacities are. What will be the maximum weight you plan to lift? What will be the height restrictions? Do you need an electric or a diesel-powered forklift? Etc. Purchasing a forklift that does not meet your specific needs will prevent the job from getting accomplished.
The number of hours a forklift has operated is important to a lot of used forklift buyers. Fortunately, one of the great features of a Heli forklift is that they generally can run anywhere between 14,000-20,000 hours. If you are looking at buying a forklift and operating it two-three hours a day, it is safe to say that purchasing a forklift with 7,000-8,000 hours on it will be sufficient enough for your needs.
